The Design-o-Blog 5000™

We created a wide range of logo design concepts at the request of Superneat Marketing for their client Roost Vans. Our favorite though, was this family of logos that have a retro-funky “Van Life” style, and that also evokes a home away from home concept (enter the roosting bird). The quirky inter-locking typeface also alludes to the custom elements of the vans that pack a lot of functionality into a very tight space. Think tiny home on steroids. The logo design also had to be fairly simple in style so that it could be reproduced as metal badges for the...

Portland-based, CSG Pro builds modern, scalable software and data solutions for a range of clients. Their data analytics consultants, also known as “Data Wizards” solve complex problems and help their clients better understand their data so they can make smarter business decisions. DBD worked with Superneat Marketing to create this clean and modern WordPress Website design for their client....

New Wordpress Website. Same enormous amount of content. We just completed a major update for the Pearl District Business Association’s website, Explore the Pearl (and boy are our arms tired!) It’s really an all-new website, even though it includes much of the same content now ported to a new framework. The previous site we created for the PDBA was great, but it was already six years old (which is like 70-something in web years) and much of the base technology was no longer compliant with today's web standards and technology. We built the new site on an awesome Wordpress theme created by...

We designed and built a new responsive WordPress Website for Congregation Neveh Shalom (CNS), a 150-year-old congregation dedicated to providing a home for traditional observance, study, and gathering for Portland´s Jewish population. The comprehensive website covers the three main themes of CNS: Mind, Heart, and Spirit and includes a large amount of content and pages that fall into those three categories. The site also features a custom blogging system for sharing weekly inspirations from the clergy, and an events calendar system for promoting the synagogue’s many classes, weekly and monthly services, fundraising events and more....

We recently designed this educational and promotional eBook for Superneat Marketing client, RFPIO. The digital book is titled  “The Complete Guide to Responding to RFPs” and it covers “the entire RFP response process: communication templates and tips, and moral support for your journey to winning the next bid.” Working from a content document created by Superneat in partnership with RFPIO, DBD quickly created a couple of draft directions of a sample layout page. Once the direction was chosen by the client, we designed the remaining 20 pages, added hyperlinks, and exported the entire document as a PDF for online distribution. Charts and...

New responsive Wordpress website for First Insight, a technology company that develops EHR and Practice Management software for ophthalmology practices. DBD designed and built the updated First Insight website in partnership with the super-neat people at Superneat Marketing, a Portland-based content marketing company. The site has a clean, fresh style that appeals to their target audience of eye doctors and medical office managers. Don’t forget the blog! The new website also has a custom blogging system where the client can share news and events, as well as tips and tricks for using their software. Why is this a good thing? A healthy and current blog...

We put together this fun and festive campaign for Distillery Row’s Summer Beach Bash in Portland, Oregon. The annual party is a chance for all of the distilleries in the Row to come together and share their craft spirits, make tasty and refreshing cocktails, enjoy some live music, and say “thank you” to the local community. The advertising and marketing campaign included posters, postcards, local newspaper ads, and social media graphics all centered around the fun and retro type treatment we created for the event, that even includes a tropical drink umbrella!...

The team at New Deal Distillery wanted a Summer drink flight menu that was a fun departure from their usual (delicious) offerings so they came up with a Tropical Tiki series of cocktails they called the Island Getaway Flight. Drawing on our love of all things retro, we created this small ad in a vintage style for Travel Portland magazine, and this drink menu with the same look and feel for in-house printing and use. Aloha!...

We've just completed a major design update on the packaging that transports Imperial Yeast to homebrewers around the world. The yeast originally came in cute little cans that we also designed, but experimentation with different options led the Portland-based company to the new more colorful pouches. Now each of the 5 varieties of organic yeast has its own color, and each individual strain has its own pouch complete with name and code number. The cans had the strain name and date printed with a customized inkjet printer. The challenge for the pouch design was to create a new more colorful...

We just completed a large website redesign for Maxta, providers of hyperconverged software solutions for managing servers and hypervisors. The site was created in partnership with long-time collaborators Liquidbook on the Wordpress platform using a custom theme developed just for this project. We also created many of the custom illustrations and icons on the new site, based on a selection of stock illustrations....

Here's a great photo of our latest t-shirt design for New Deal Distillery taken by Kristen Manning Photography. Lucas from New Deal is shown pouring cocktails for the ADX open house party as part of Design Week Portland this past week. The tagline on the shirt says, “we do our part.” Indeed!...
